An Autopsy Case of Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome

Abstract

|
|
We experienced an autopsy case of hemolytic uremic syndrome. Over 75% of cases occur in children with intestinal infection with verocy tot oxi n-producing E.coli. The disease is one of the main causes of ARF in children. It is characterized by the sudden on-set, usually after a gastrointestinal or flu-like prodromal episode of bleeding manifestations(especially hematemesis and melana), severe oliguria, hematuria, a microangiophathic hemolytic anemia, and prominent neurologic changes.
